This
Museum was created in 1980 upon the initiative of Mr. Ricardo
Vitiritti. Its exhibition rooms bear the names of Spanish Hall,
Colonial Gallery, May Revolution, and Tributes, where one of the
most outstanding heroes of argentine history is honored.
Amongst the numerous objects exhibited, several belonged to General
Belgrano, such as the sealing wax stick he used in the Consulate,
nine documents with his hand-written signature affixed to them,
a colonial chair in embossed leather that he had presented as
a gift to Marshall Arenales, and the railings of the house where
he lived in Luján. A preferential place has been assigned to the
"House of Illustrious Mens Relatives", since the maintenance of
the institution is made possible through the generous contributions
it receives from these men's descendants. The Museum is mainly
visited by elementary and high school students who are given the
possibility of observing a collection of over 1,600 pieces including
documentation, paintings, furniture, flags, uniforms, weapons,
and other items that evoke the figure of Belgrano, the creator
of our national flag.
