This Museum was created in July 1997, and houses part of the scientific
instruments from the Laboratory of experimental Psychology founded
by Horacio Piņero in 1901 at the School of Philosophy and Letters
of the University of Buenos Aires.
The discovery of a series of artifacts in 1990 led to the identification
and restoration of the apparatuses, and some of the experiments
performed in the period comprised between 1901 and 1930 were reconstructed
using the original instruments. An evaluation of their historical
value has also been carried out, in order to compare them with
the developments achieved by other similar laboratories of those
times, and with subsequent developments. The Museum is the center
of a research project on "Early Experimental Psychology in Argentina".
An important collection of bibliographical sources dating back
to the first half the century can be consulted at the library
of the School of Psychology located in the same building. Counseling
is offered to primary and secondary school students interested
in contemporary psychology as a field for research or Professional
development.
