Tel. 4361-6520 / 4361-6013
The museum is currently closed for repairs.
The library and record library are open from Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Museum is located in the "Carlos Vega" National Institute of Technology, under the authority of the National Secretariat of Culture. A pioneer in the field of Latin American music, the remembered master and researcher Carlos Vega founded the Institute that received his name in 1978. This Museum is basically devoted to scientific research of musical expressions (instruments, texts, rites, etc.) in Argentina and other Latin American countries, originating in aboriginal and Creole towns and urban centers. This Museum of Aboriginal and Creole Instruments owns more that 300 pieces, and was inaugurated in 1983. Its wealth was increased through research field trips made as from 1931 by Vega and other researchers, and is of immense documentary value. Its exhibitions are temporary.
Since it has only recently moved to its new premises in the building of the old National Library, the Museum is currently being reorganized. There will be exhibition rooms open to the public, and a storehouse open to researchers.
