The first division of neighbourhoods made in Buenos Aires
were Cathedral to the North and Cathedral to the South. This
last one includes what nowadays are the neighbourhoods of
Montserrat, San Telmo and La Boca.
San Telmo is the oldest of the city, its constructions reflects
the architecture of the Centuries XIX and the beginnings of
the XX. A lot of artist and craftsmen are living in the old
colonial houses called "conventillos".
This
nieghbourhood of the antiques and variety of objects, excellent
restaurants and places to dance tangos. The Plaza Dorrego,
historic place, where every Sunday from 10 to 17hs. takes
place the popular "Feria de Antigüedades de San Pedro González
Telmo" (antiques feria). The house of Castgnino where he lived,
in 1968, the painter Juan Carlos Castagnino (1908-1972), known
for the illustrations in the
Martín Fierro, book by José Hernández.
