Tel. 0837-20053
Open Mondays through Fridays from 7a.m. to 8p.m.
This
museum was built around the collection that Dr. Alanis assembled
after roaming the area of Antofagasta de la Sierra and Belén for
many years. There are skulls and bone fragments gathered in the
first locations and a collection of coins found in Belén. Several
cultures shared this area, namely, Belén, Ciénaga, Aguada and others.
The museum exhibits the contents of graves discovered in La Troya
and Campo del Mortero. There are also decorated ceramic pieces belonging
to the Diaguita culture. Another piece on exhibition is a stone
used by Indian women to give birth with carved grooves with little
holes to eliminate amniotic fluid.
Tinogasta

Aguadita (distant only 15km.), Fiambalá and the Quebrada de Troya.
