This museum comprises exhibition halls devoted to the origin of
the universe and the evolution of species, as well as an introduction
to the ecosystem of the province of Chaco, river fauna and an exhibition
of meteorites. It also has an area devoted to army and the preservation
of pieces as well as a specialized library. Worthy of mentioning
amongst its exhibits are lower mastodon jaws with molars, megathere
bones dating from the Paleocene or beginnings of the Cretaceous
Period, and a reticulated glyptodont tail.
Resistencia
Resistencia is the capital of the province of Chaco and is located
1,020 km. away from the Federal Capital. To reach Resistencia from
Buenos Aires one must travel down national route No.9 up to its
intersection with national route No.11, and then turn towards the
North down this route. Resistencia is known as the city of sculptures
since its public parks and streets are adorned with a large number
of sculptures. A sculpture competition is held here every year and
is the meeting place for thousands artists from all over the country.
Resistencia stands on the banks of the Negro River 7km. away from
the point where it meets the Paraná River. It is only 22km. away
from the city of Corrientes which one can get to by crossing the
General Manuel Belgrano bridge.
