intervention made possible the foundation of San Fernando del Río
Negro in 1750. Its two halls exhibit material related to the history
of the region including aboriginal clothing, instruments used by
the first immigrants who settled in Chaco, religious imagery and
photographs of the city of Resistencia from 1910 up to the present.
Also on display are uniforms that belonged to Colonel Juárez and
instruments belonging to Dr. Perrano, a pioneer in the field of
medicine in Chaco.
Resistencia
Resistencia is the capital of the province of Chaco and is located
1,020 km. away from the Federal Capital. To reach Resistencia from
Buenos Aires one must travel down national route No.9 up to its
intersection with national route No.11, and then turn towards the
North down this route. Resistencia is known as the city of sculptures
since its public parks and streets are adorned with a large number
of sculptures. A sculpture competition is held here every year and
is the meeting place for thousands artists from all over the country.
Resistencia stands on the banks of the Negro River 7km. away from
the point where it meets the Paraná River. It is only 22km. away
from the city of Corrientes which one can get to by crossing the
General Manuel Belgrano bridge.
