This
museum was inaugurated in 1990 and harbors an exclusive collection
of historical carriages and coins employed in the primitive mills
and industries in Chaco. The exhibits on display in its 8 halls
reflect the history of Chaco comprising both the world of the aborigines
and that of criollos and immigrants. It has a library specialized
in general and regional museology. Amongst its exhibits there is
a closeup of the city of Resistencia, a collection of radios, Victrolas,
78rpm records and mandolins, machines and tools employed in the
primitive industries in addition to weapons, utensils and clothing
belonging to the Toba and Mataco Indians.
Resistencia
Resistencia is the capital of the province of Chaco and is located
1,020 km. away from the Federal Capital. To reach Resistencia from
Buenos Aires one must travel down national route No.9 up to its
intersection with national route No.11, and then turn towards the
North down this route. Resistencia is known as the city of sculptures
since its public parks and streets are adorned with a large number
of sculptures. A sculpture competition is held here every year and
is the meeting place for thousands artists from all over the country.
Resistencia stands on the banks of the Negro River 7km. away from
the point where it meets the Paraná River. It is only 22km. away
from the city of Corrientes which one can get to by crossing the
General Manuel Belgrano bridge.
