Museum
of the Sky
Located
at the site known as "Las Víboras"
Tel. 03735-495020
Open Mondays through Fridays from 8a.m. to 4p.m.
This
original museum comprises a single hall devoted to meteoric particles.
Worthy of mentioning is the 37-ton meteor known as "Chaco" that
stands guarded, together with many others, in the surrounding area
since the museum lacks a building of its own. Studies carried out
on the meteors have concluded that the hundreds of pieces found
in the area are apparently fragments of a single meteor that scattered
over the Chaco plains 5,800 years ago. The meteor named "Chaco"
is one of the most important in the world on account of its size
and weight.
