This
museum comprises two large halls including the "Emilio Petorutti"
gallery located in the government house which is under the authority
of the museum. It harbors over 400 works including sculptures, Paintings,
drawings and engravings by renowned foreign, Argentine and provincial
artists. Worthy of mentioning are pieces by Valentín Thibón de Libián,
Pérez Celis, Leopoldo Presas, Juan Carlos Castagnino, Hugo de Marziani,
Benito Quinquela Martín and Ricardo Jara. The museum also organizes
temporary exhibitions, courses, workshops and guided tours.
Resistencia
Resistencia is the capital of the province of Chaco and is located
1,020 km. away from the Federal Capital. To reach Resistencia from
Buenos Aires one must travel down national route No.9 up to its
intersection with national route No.11, and then turn towards the
North down this route. Resistencia is known as the city of sculptures
since its public parks and streets are adorned with a large number
of sculptures. A sculpture competition is held here every year and
is the meeting place for thousands artists from all over the country.
Resistencia stands on the banks of the Negro River 7km. away from
the point where it meets the Paraná River. It is only 22km. away
from the city of Corrientes which one can get to by crossing the
General Manuel Belgrano bridge.
