Amongst the exhibits there are weapons and rifle bullets, cannon
projectiles, fuse grenades, percussion bullets, sabers and bayonets
that were used during the War of the Triple Alliance. There are
also 16 macrophotographs of the paintings by Cándido López depicting
different scenes of the war all of which make reference to the military
camp set up at Isla del Cerrito between 1866 and 1870.
Isla
del Cerrito
Isla del Cerrito lies 56km. away from Resistencia at the point where
the Paraná and Paraguay Rivers join. It can be reached down the
riverside route or national route No.16. Isla del Cerrito was discovered
by Sebastian Cabot in 1528 when he reached the mouth of the Paraguay
River. It is currently a Natural Reserve on account of its abundant
flora and fauna.
