SEALS AND ELEPHANT SEALS
There is a permanent colony of about 800 seals on the sandbar below the cliffs called Punta Loma.
Another colony of about 1,500 seals come to breed in the nature reserve Punta Pirámide. The Reserva de Punta Norte harbours the only colony of elephant seals in the continental region. These impressive animals get their name from the trunk-like snout of the males of the species. |
