Founded in 1558, it is 37 Kms. from Córdoba Capital, on the
east of the Sierras Grandes, in an ample valley surrounded
by the mountain ranges.
The historic Jesuit church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced
and the buildings that surrounded it, wher bought by Santiago
de Liniers, hero of the reconquer.
To
the east side it is the Tajamar, rest of and old dam of the
ranch and the public clock, work of Troyano Traían. This tower
shows the three steps of the city: native, the monk and the
warrior.
You
can also visit the chalet Los Espinillos where the spanish
writer, Manuel de Falla, lived his last days, today is a museum.
The Gruta de la Virgen de Lourdes, in the Sierras Hotel, where
is the casino, nearby is the Astronimy Observatory of the
Bosque Alegre, which telescope is one of the most important
in America.
Another
important place to visit is the house of Ernesto Che
Guevara, now a museum.
