The city of Corrientes, located on the banks of the Paraná River is the capital of the province of Corrientes- It lies 860km -Way from the Federal Capital. In order to get there from Buenos Aires, one must travel down national route No. 9 up to its intersection with national route No. 12. One must then take this route to Cross the Zarate-Brazo Largo railway complex and then carry on down it up to Corrientes.

Amongst the attractions worth visiting are the convents of San Francisco (st. Francis) and de la Merced (of Mercy),covered with Carrara marble, and the church of the Holy Cross of Miracles.

The park Mitre, was the place where the battles of the Triple Alianza took place. There is the "Gomero de la India", unique in Amerca.
