Convent
of Our Lady of mercy

Open every day from 7 to 12 a.m. and from 4 to 8 p.m.
The
construction of this former convent of the Order of Our Lady of
mercy was finished in 1856, and the building housed a school and
a university for some time. Amongst the pieces of sacred art on
exhibition there is a hand-carved wooden 19th century retable with
golden inlays, an Immaculate Conception dating from 1897, a wood-carved
19th century organ and four confessionals dating from the 18th century.
Corrientes
The city of Corrientes, located on the banks of the Paraná River
is the capital of the province of Corrientes- It lies 860km -Way
from the Federal Capital. In order to get there from Buenos Aires,
one must travel down national route No. 9 up to its intersection
with national route No. 12. One must then take this route to Cross
the Zarate-Brazo Largo railway complex and then carry on down it
up to Corrientes. Amongst the attractions worth visiting are the
convents of San Francisco (st. Francis) and de la Merced (of Mercy),covered
with Carrara marble, and the church of the Holy Cross of Miracles.
