This
museum is devoted to sacred art and harbors extremely valuable pieces,
the most notable of which are an 18th century tabernacle from Upper
Perú, two engraved silver chalices inlaid with stones dating from
the end of the 19th century, a ciborium used by Pope John Paul II,
five gold plated books pertaining to the old service, two miters
embroidered in gold two crucified figures of Christ belonging to
the Jesuits and a valuable and exquisitely bound ecclesiastical
archive starting off in 1764.
Corrientes
The city of Corrientes, located on the banks of the Paraná River
is the capital of the province of Corrientes- It lies 860km -Way
from the Federal Capital. In order to get there from Buenos Aires,
one must travel down national route No. 9 up to its intersection
with national route No. 12. One must then take this route to Cross
the Zarate-Brazo Largo railway complex and then carry on down it
up to Corrientes. Amongst the attractions worth visiting are the
convents of San Francisco (st. Francis) and de la Merced (of Mercy),covered
with Carrara marble, and the church of the Holy Cross of Miracles.
