This
museum comprises a single hall devoted to regional history and natural
sciences. It harbors a large number of stuffed animals including
an alligator old-fashioned typewriters, 19th century scales, a red
stone mollar which probably belonged to the Jesuits, weapons used
during the War of the Tnple Alliance, the accordion that belonged
to Ernesto Montiel, the musician who was born in this town and is
considered the father of the chamamé (typical folkloric music from
the argentine littoral region).

Paso de los Libres lies on the banks of the Uruguay River 410 km.
away from the city of Corrientes down national routes No. 12 and
123 Paso de los Libres and the Brazilian city of Uruguayana are
joined by the Getulio Vargas - Agustín P. Justo bridge. The town
has beach resorts on the shores of the river which abounds in dorados
surubíes (large fresh-water calfish).
