This
museum comprises one large hall that was part of the old church
dating from 1773. There are 22 marble gravestones on the floor pertaining
to some of the colonizers. Worthy of mentioning are the images carved
in cedar wood by the Indians of the Franciscan reductions. Exhibits
also include a cooking pot dating from 1838 that belonged to the
Paraguayan army, military uniforms from the wars waged during the
19th century, cannonballs, lances, bows and arrows, 18th century
mass books and an image of San (St.) Roque carved in polychrome
wood. The original construction is made of adobe with walls that
are a meter and a half thick. The roof is made of 8-meter-long carved
whole trunks.
