This
museum occupies a colonial style building dating from 1811. It comprases
a single very large hall devoted to sacred art. Exhibits include
a polychrome wooden image of Christ of patience dating from the
17th century, a lying figure of Christ with articulated arns dating
from the same period carved in wood by the Guaraní Indians, and
a Cross of the Good Thief from the Jesuitical Guaraní school dating
from the 18th century. Its most treasured image is one of the Virgin
of Itatí whose hands and face are carved in walnut wood while its
body is carved in timbó wood. This image has been here since the
foundation of the town in 1615.
Itatí
Itatí lies 68 km. away from the city of Corrientes and one can get
there from the provincial capital by travelling down national route

Itatí is located.
