The
San Martín Historical Museum

This
museum functions in the General San Martín Regiment of Mounted Grenadiers.
It comprises five halls devoted to history and archaeology. One
of these halls is dedicated to the Jesuitical reductions, two focus
on the histotical events related to San Martín, the fourth hall
is devoted to the second foundation of Yapeyú, while the last one
harbors flags, paintings of San Martín and Bolívar and uniforms.
Amongst its most treasured possessions are a stone mill wheel and
a baptismal font from the times of the Jesuits, a maquette of the
Battle of San Lorenzo and a replica of San Martín´s curved saber
and of the furniture in his home in Boulogne Sur Mer, France.
Yapeyú
The town of Yapeyú stands as a landmark in Argentine history since
it was the birthplace of General San Martín. It is located 380km
away from the city of Corrientes down national routes No.12, 123
and 14. This town was originally a Jesuitical reduction.
