Its
eight halls contain an exhibition of sundry objects related to the
historical life of the city. One of its most noteworthy pieces is
an image of Our Lady of Mercy that is over 300 years old and is
carved in cedar wood. It arrived in Nogoyá in 1808 from the Jesuitical
Missions. Other exhibits include antique furniture, pianos, 19th
century bedroom sets, a collection of fans from the early 20th century,
lamps made of ceramic, bronze and cut crystal, mirrors with hand-made
gilt frames, engraved silver fruit bowls, a 19th century clothing
and hats.
Nogoya
This city lies on the banks of the Nogoyá river and is 111km distant
from the provincial capital down national route No.12. An interesting
site to visit is the basilica of Our Lady of Carmen that harbors
a carved image of the virgin dating from 1782.
