This
museum has two halls offer insight into the history of the town
and its people. It harbors many items that belonged to the "Establecimientos
Argentinos de Bovril" industrial plant which was the only work source
in the town. Amongst these items there is a British flag that was
formerly hoisted together with the Argentine flag, scales employed
for weighing the wood that was used to power the steam boilers and
old-fashioned gauges. There are also birth certificates dating from
the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century
and a collection of old photographs. Santa Elena was a private town
with a deep water port that grew around the industrial plant. In
days gone by it had stronger connection with London than with Buenos
Aires.
