The five halls that form part of this museum honor the memory of
the sculptor of the Monument to the Independence of Humahuaca, that
has become a landmark of this town. The museum was inaugurated during
the artists lifetime and contains all the original plaster casts
of his creative work.
Tilcara
Tilcara is located on national route No. 9,84km. away from San Salvador
de Jujuy and 2,461m above sea level. This town was founded approximately
in the year 1600 and is characteristic of the "Quebrada" with its
"Collas" (Indians from the northwest) and its multicolored mountains.
The erection of its church began in 1797, but was only completed
in 1865. The entire area has a vast archaeological wealth, and its
main site is the "Pucará de Tilcara" (Pucará: fortress).
