This museum was created in 1987, and its original collection comprised

town located 130km. away from the city, north of the historical
town of Humahuaca. The schoolteacher was Mr. Jorge Mendoza. The
activities carried out by this institution came under the attention
of the National Arts Fund and the National University of Tucumán,
who shot a short length film directed by the documentary film specialist,
Jorge Prelorán. From its creation until 1992, the museum operated
at Güemes 956. When the Department of Tourism and Culture moved
to Lavalle 376, work was begun in some of the halls to adapt them
for museum use. In addition to the works by the Chucalezna painters,
there are paintings and sculptures made by artists from all around
the country.
