Its eight halls exhibit paintings by José A. Terry and other Argentine artists related to the customs and traditions of the inhabitants of Tilcara. Terry was born in Buenos Aires, but visited Tilcara and decided to settle here. He was born deaf-mute, but his parents sent him to a special school in Europe where he learnt to speak English, French and Spanish. All the paintings made by this artist were based on models from the area and framed with wood obtained from the cardón (a prickly local plant). The house that harbors this museum has remained just as it was when it was built in 1880. The walls are original.
