This museum was created in April 1994, and is the specific institution
that receives archaeological material discovered in the area. A
diorama has been set up in its halls representing life. 9,000 years
ago when bands had still not settled. Other exhibits include a 2,600
year old ceramic goddess, a lithic collection of arrow heads, and
other objects of everyday life. Worthy of mentioning is the body
of a two-year old child dating back approximately 1,000 years, which
still preserves both teeth and hair and two naturally mummified
adults whose remains date back 600 years, buried with their mortuary
accouterments. There are ceramic vessels of the Yavi and Humahuaca
cultures painted and decorated with geometrical designs.

Salvador de Jujuy
This city is the capital of the province of Jujuy. It lies 1,660
km. away from the city of Buenos Aires and 1,260m above sea level.
It has 185,000 inhabitants and is surrounded by an awesome chain
of multicolored mountains. Worthy of visiting is its Cathedral which
was built in 1750 and has a pulpit carved in ñandubay wood by the
Indians, the chapel of Saint Barbara dating from 1777, and the Cabildo.
