This museum is the first of its kind and was created in 1975. It
represents an absolutely original manner of becoming acquainted
with our history. Its exhibits include lead and tin miniatures of
outstanding events of Argentine and world history and, basically,
of the history of the province of Jujuy. In the hall devoted to
religious themes, one can appreciate Adam and Eve in Paradise, Noah's
Ark, or Jesus and the Stations of the Cross. In the hall devoted
to the conquest of America, there are references to the discovery
of America, a real scale replica of the three caravels, or Columbus
in the presence of the King and Queen of Spain. The hall that covers
Argentine history contains visual descriptions of the English invasions,
the 25th of May of 1810 (a historical date), the House of Tucumán,
the foundation of Jujuy, the blessing and swearing of allegiance
to the flag in Jujuy, the exodus of the people from Jujuy, the Battle
of Salta and the "Posta de Yatasto" (Yatasto post station). Also
on exhibition are miniature weapons, uniforms and carriages.
San
Salvador de Jujuy
This city is the capital of the province of Jujuy. It lies 1,660
km. away from the city of Buenos Aires and 1,260m above sea level.
It is surrounded by an awesome chain of multicolored mountains.
Worthy of visiting is its Cathedral which was built in 1750 and
has a pulpit carved in ñandubay wood by the Indians, the chapel
of Saint Barbara dating from 1777, and the Cabildo.
