This is a private museum belonging to Delicia Mercado's family. The department of Famatina harbors one of the most important archaeological reservoirs in the whole province. In several archaeological sites in the area pieces belonging to the Aguada culture have been found. This culture flourished during the 5th and 6th centuries A.D..
Exhibits also include ceramic and stone objects from the Sanagasta and Belén cultures. The influence of the Inca culture that reached this area between 1400 and 1470 can also be appreciated in the form of farm implements and some objects used for personal adornment.
