This is where Chacho Peñaloza was assassinated. There is a poem dedicated to his death that says: "With manly courage he stood his ground / from head to foot / and died on November 12th / of the year 1963." Amongst the objects on display there are weapons, documents, paintings and furniture.

Olta is located 172km. away from the city of La Rioja on national route No. 79. it is an area of woodlands and fruit plantations. It is on the circuit known as "The route of the caudillos", and was the setting for several armed encounters during the 19th century. Chacho Peñaloza was assassinated 3km. away from the town.
