This
museum comprises a single hall devoted to archaeology, history and
natural sciences. Amongst its most important exhibits are a Huarpe
Indian burial site and a collection of stones from Ischigualasto.
There is also a shark jaw, a fossilized coral, whale vertebras,
arrowheads belonging to the Guanacache culture, Incaic ceramic and
grey ceramic belonging to the Huarpe culture. Exhibits also include
chasubles used by the monks towards the end of the 19th century,
candelabra from Santa Rosa de Lima and photographs of astronomical
phenomena. The entire collection belonged formerly to Bernardo Razquín.
Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa is distant 81km. from the city of Mendoza. One can get
there down national route No.7 and then one must make a detour 1km.
to the right from Guiñazú. The whole area is a farming oasis abounding
in grapevines, fruit trees and vegetables where one can visit wineries,
farms and old houses.
