Due
to the quality of the works harbored by this museum, it is considered
one of the most important in the country in the field of plastic
arts. It owns no less than 51 of Fader´s paintings. This museum
is the venue where all the awards, competitions and biennials organized
in the province are held. It also housed international megaexhibitions
such as those presenting the works of Guayasamín, Wilfredo Lam,
Siqueiros, Carlos Alonso and, obviously, the great exhibition titled
"Fader at Fader´s Home" in which 200 works by this brilliant artist
were presented. The museum operates in the house that belonged to
Emilio Guiñazú who bought the 95-hectare property in 1889 and refurbished
it maintaining its original style. In 1904 he met Fernando Fader,
who had just returned from studying painting in Europe, and commissioned
him to paint the murals that still decorate the walls inside the
house. Fader married Adela, Emilio Guiñazú´s daughter and, upon
Guiñazú´s death, his widow donated the house to harbor the Provincial
Museum of Fine Arts that had been created in 1927 and still had
no fixed premises. This museum was inaugurated in 1951.

and processing establishments. The renowned Argentine painter, Fernando
Fader, lived here.
