This
museum comprises the winery, living quarters and chapel, all of
which are constructions dating from the period comprised beween
1856 and 1920. Exhibits include 19th century, machinery from the
winery, pieces of furniture, religious images and period documents.
The house adjoining the chapel dates back to the turn of the century.
It is built according to the Chilean custom with a sunken courtyard
and a raised gallery. This house was erected before the earthquake
of 1861. It has galleries at the front and at the back, pine floors
and Elizabethan furniture. Also on exhibition are a grand piano,
a gold medal from Paris dating from 1889 and 19th century European
pieces of furniture. On exhibition in the winery's gallery are farming
implements and machinery from the flour mill. This is the oldest
winery and one of the few that were not destroyed by the earthquake
in 1861.
Las Heras
The city of Las Heras lies 6 km. away from the city of Mendoza and
is 726m. above sea level. It can be reached by taking national route
No.4 or the Northern Access.
