Historical Museum of La Paz

Open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 to 12a.m. and from 5 to 9p.m.
This museum is devoted to regional history and comprises a single
large hall. It was inaugurated in August 1999 through the donation
of farming implements and other objects donated by local families.
Exhibits also include the telephone belonging to the old railway
and the Morse telegraph from the old station. There are also photographs
of the first families that settled in the area, as well as the first
street car dating from 1940, farming implements and wooden mortars.
Also on exhibition are a wooden cart hub dating from 1820 and a
stone mortar for grinding wheat. There is a sector devoted to the
Queens of the Grape Harvest and to former local mayors. Other pieces
worth of mentioning are a loom, a 1920 Helvetin coffee machine and
a water filtering stone dating from 1900.
La Paz
The city of La Paz is located on national route No.7 (Eastern Access),
143km. away from the city of Mendoza. La Paz was founded in 1850
and soon became inhabited by European immigrants.
