The old mill, together with the building housing the Bureau of Renewable
Natural Resources, the Regional Museum and the Park of the Past
form part of the farm premises that belonged to Rufino Ortega. The
flour mill dates back to 1885. It comprises two parts, an elongated
warehouse with a gable roof and a grinding room with higher walls
wooden roof.
The building is made of adobe with a reddish hue on account of the
color of the earth in the area. From an architectural point of view,
it belongs to the Republican period.
Malargüe
The city of Malargüe lies 421km. away from the city of Mendoza and
1,345 m. above sea level. Very close by is the Valley of Las Leñas
where the most prestigious ski resort in Argentina is located. To
get to Malargüe from the city of Mendoza, the best way is to make
a detour to San Rafael and to carry on from there since, through
Malargüe is situated on national route No. 40, part of the road
is not paved. To get to San Rafael one must take national routes
No. 40 and 143. From this city, one must then travel along national
routes No.144 and 40. San Rafael is distant 200km. from Malargüe.
