The House of the Domes

This house is under the authority of the Municipality and its refurbishment is scheduled for completion within three years. In this large old house surrounded by gardens a social gathering was held in 1817 to bid farewell to the Andes Army. For many years it served as a post station for travelers touring this part of the province. It is one of the most original examples of colonial architecture because of the four unusual domes crowing its western side. At present only one of the domes is in place while the others are very damaged since the house was occupied by intruders for a long time.

General Ortega
General Ortega belongs to the department of Maipú and is located 26 km. away, from the city of Mendoza. To get there, one must travel along national route No.7 (Eastern Access) and then take provincial routes No.33 and 50.
