San
Rafael is the second city in importance in the province. It
is an exceptional touristic center due to the variety and
quality of its attractions such as the Atuel River Canyon
and the Valle Grande, Los Reyunos, Agua del Toro and Nihuil
dams that are ideal for the practice of adventure tourism.
It
is also one of the most important wine-producing areas. San
Rafael lies 232 km. away from the city of Mendoza down national
routes No. 40 and 143.
