One
of its halls devoted to natural sciences harbors a modern serpentarium
housing several live specimens. The museum also has a section devoted
to ornithology with regional and exotic species such as blackbirds,
parrots, Asiatic birds and toucans. Three of its halls are devoted
to history: Prehistory of Misiones and Guaraní Culture, Jesuitical
Missions and Repopulation and Colonization of Misiones. Exhibits
include hand axes, boleadoras, wickerwork and ceramics.
Posadas
The city of Posadas is the capital of the province of Misiones and
is located 1,060 km away from, the city of Buenos Aires. To get
there from Buenos Aires one must take national route No. 9 up to
its intersection with national route No. 14 and then travel down
this route towards the Notlh. Another alternative is to take national
route No. 12 that goes past the city of corrientes. Posadas lies
on the Paraná River and is 297 km. away from the province´s main
attraction: the Iguazú Falls, and 60 km away from the ruins of the
San Ignacio Miní Jesuitical Missions.
