There is the Municipal Museum "Fermín Godoy Díaz", that exhibits
archaeological objects of the region.
Its
name comes from the language mapuche, where "cutral" (fire)
and "co" (water) can be referring hidrocarburífera operation
of the zone.

the 1930 started the explration of the zone. Then in
October 22nd of 1933 the first stone of the new pupolation
was put and the new town was named. The name was then "Cutral
Co", refering in a symbolic way to the petroleum operation
in the zone.
