Here it is the Very well known Lagoon of Chascomús, famous for being the center of fishing of pejerrey.
Thr origin was with the fort San Juan Bautista, founded in 30 of Mayo of 1779 by the comandante Pedro Nicolás Escribano and declared city in 1873.
Until today is the house where the rosistas (followers of the former president Rosas) organized a dance to celebrate the triumph over Los Libres del Sur. Now the house is the Casa de la Cultura.

Every year the 24 of september it is celebrated the part y of Nuestra Señora de la Merced; in november is evocatedthe batle of Chascomús and a Traditional party, doma (tame) and Folklore. On December it is the National Party of the pejerrey, with an exposotion of industry and commerce. Its satdn out the Cattle, Farming and industries in the zone.
