THe city of Luján, which name comes from the Spaniard captain Pedro de Luján, dead by natives, presents as the mayor attraction the Cathedral Basílica de Luján. The image of the Virgen de Luján is object of great devotion.
Important museums, historic places and many colonial mansions, gives an special feeling to the city.

The Cabildo (Town hall), colonial type, was prison of the english general Beresford and the argentines José María Paz and Bartolomé Mitre.
