Originated on a fort raised in 1779, by the Comandante de Fronteras Juan José Sarden.
The Chapel of San Miguel del Monte Gárgano was built, and formed the center of urban construction.
Zone of agriculture, there are some ranches like the traditional ones, like Las Perdices, that is from the XVIII century; and La América, important for the modern methods of agriculture, and because it was owned by the former president Juan Manuel de Rosas.
Important lagoon, with nautic clubs, hunting, fishing, polo and camping.
