Cultural Center Tel. 0876-81210
Open Mondays through Fridays from 8a.m. to 1p.m.
This
museum comprises only one exhibition room containing objects discovered
in the area and others donated to it. It was created in 1995 for
the purpose of assembling objects of historical and archaeological
value for the people to be able to appreciate the local cultural
wealth. The section dedicated to ethnography exhibits vessels used
by the Chiriguano-Chané Indians, anthropomorphous figurines and
a funerary urn pertaining to an infant of the Candelaria culture
that flourished between the 4th and 11th centuries. There are also
pieces of limestone with embedded sea creatures, since this area
was primitively submerged.
Rosario
de la Frontera
The town of Rosario de la Frontera lies 176km. away from the city
of Salta down national route No. 34. This city is of great economic
importance on account of its agricultural production and touristic
lure because of its proximity to some thermal waters. Only 7km.
away stand the oldest thermal baths in South America established
in 1880.
