"La
Cruz Farm" Museum of rural life in Salta

on the road to La Troja, 23km. away from Salta

This Museum is opened upon request This museum is under the authority
of the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts and has eight exhibition halls.
Exhibits include farm tools, weapons, colonial furniture, silverwork
and household implements. It was used by General Martín Güemes as
a barracks, blood hospital and training grounds for his troops in
the war fought against the Spanish invaders between 1816 and 1821.
It is located in front of the site known as "La Quesera". Eight
kilometers away is the place known as "Quebrada de la Horqueta",
which is the camp where Güemes arrived injured and died a few days
later.
Salta
The city of Salta, capital of the province, is located in a valley
that lies 1,610km. away from the City of Buenos Aires and 1,187m
above sea level. In addition to the various museums in the city,
it is also worthwhile visiting the Convent of St. Bernard with its
large wooden doorcarved by the indians, the Monument to General
Güemes and the cerro San Bernardo which offers a panoramic view
of the entire Lerma Valley.
