Archaeological Museum

This museum has one large hall in which archaeological objects are displayed. There is a very well-preserved mummy wrapped in a llama hide that is over 500 years old. There are numerous lithic pieces, wickerwork baskets, microscrapers, necklace beads, stone knives, ceramic vessels and decorated woven products. This institution is under the authority of the University of San Juan and operates in the Community Center of Calingasta.

Calingasta
Calingasta is the capital of the Calingasta department and lies 135km. away from the city of San Juan. To get there one must travel along provincial route No. 12.
