Municipal Regional Historical Museum

This museum comprises two large halls and six smaller ones exhibiting objects related with regional history. Amongst the pieces on display there is a spring-operated Victrola from 1930, a standing radio from 1928, an old-fashioned bedroom set made of gold-plated iron, old photographs, the ticket-office of Caucetes first cinema, plows, plowshares, stone mortars, water filter and old work tools. Also on exhibition are an old-fashioned 19th century piano and several remains of amphibians and reptiles from the Ischigualasto area. There are also photographs of the disaster caused by the earthquake that destroyed the city in 1977. The museum operates in a municipal building that formerly housed the Hospital of Caucete.

Caucete
Caucete lies 25km. away from the city of San Juan on national route No.20. The town came to public knowledge some years ago when a very strong earthquake virtually destroyed it.
