This
museum comprises three halls and an open park. Amongst its most
valuable exhibits there is an Indian petroglyph, "The Dancers",
made on basalt rock that represents a magic dance related with fertility.
"Stampede", another Indian petroglyph, depicts a herd of cattle
and "Danger" represents a condor flying over a group of animals.
These petroglyphs date from between 700 and 1,500 years before the
present. This is a private museum operating in a house dating from
1850 with stone foundations, adobe walls and roofs made of mud and
reed. Exhibits also include a ceremonial altar for offerings, a
wide assortment of ceramics from different cultures such as Aguada,
Ciénaga, Angualasto and Incaic, mortars and a basin for washing
gold.
