Municipal Museum of archaeology and paleontology

This
museum has only one hall in which paleontology and archaeology pieces
discovered in the area are exhibited. Worthy of mentioning are several
pieces belonging to the culture of the Abipón Indians who inhabited
the region of Chaco the north of the province of Santa Fe. There
are some batons of authority carved in deer antler and some potsherds
as well as several items belonging to the Toba and Guaycurú Indian
cultures. Amongst the paleontology pieces there is a mastodon tusk
and Mylodon and Toxodon teeth. Also on display are some candelabra
from the reduction of Santa Lucía and a library that specializes
in the archaeology of the region.
Reconquista
Reconquista is located 322km away from Santa Fe. Upon leaving Santa
Fe, one must travel down provincial route No.1 up to its intersection
with national route No.11, then turn down this route and cover 9km.
It is the third most important city in the province. It lies 15km.
away from the banks of the Paraná River and a system of ferries
connects it with the city of Goya in the province of Corrientes
on the opposite side of the river.
