• SANTA FE, THE CAPITAL OF THE PROVINCE
In this city, the Constitution of 1853 was declared. Its last reform took place in 1994. The city is linked to Paraná, the capital of the province of Entre Ríos, via a tunnel of 2,397m under the great river Paraná. During the period of independence and for fifty years after, it was an active commercial city because it lies on the intersection of the routes from Buenos Aires to Paraguay and Peru. After this period, however, there was a decline in favour of Rosario. The city has a modern riverside walk and you can see buildings from the colonial era around the Plaza San Martín and the Plaza de Mayo, in the centre of the old city. Inside the church of La Merced there is a painting of the Virgen de los Milagros, thought to be the oldest one painted in the country. In the Convento de San Francisco there is an image of the Nazareno and this convent also houses the Museo Histórico de San Francisco. An obligatory visit is to the Museo Histórico Provincial, where you can see exhibits related to the Jesuit missions.

• ROSARIO
The National Flag of Argentina was raised for the first time in this city on the banks of the Paraná. The Parque Independencia has a magnificent artificial lake, a racecourse, a zoo, the fountain of Lola Mora, and the Museo Histórico Provincial. On its riverside promenade, stands the Monumento a la Bandera Nacional - a monument to the national flag-. Inside you can visit the "Galería de Honor de las Banderas de América" where all the national flags of the countries belonging to the Organization of American States are on show. There is also an exhibition of Argentina's activities in the Antarctic.
