local folklore. This institution is under the authority of the School
of Philosophy and Letters of the National University of Tucumán.
It was founded as a postgraduate research center and harbors abundant
documentation and material related to the culture, history and customs
of Santiago del Estero. There is quechua material for research purposes
as well as archaeological and anthropological objects that are surviving
testimonies of the things that were lost during the colonization
process.
