The stations of the via dolorosa are represented along the road. This is one of the most worshipped sanctuaries in the province and was declared a National Historiec Monument. On the altar there is a silver cross with an image of Christ carve in wood dating from the 19th century. After Lent, the most important feasts celebrated in Santiago del Estero in honour of the patron saints are held here.
